The West Java and Banten Regional Division are one of the work units of Perum Perhutani, which manages forests in West Java and Banten provinces. The Perhutani West Java and Banten Regional Division manage 602,532.20 Ha of forest area in West Java, or 17.03% of the region, and 78.487.65 Ha in Banten or 8.12% of the province.
The division of forest area managed by the Regional Division of West Java and Banten based on its function consists of Production Forest covering an area of 246,543.70 Ha (36.20%), Limited Production Forest <15% covering an area of 94,579.00 Ha (13.89%), Limited Production Forest >15% covering an area of 101,818.92 Ha (14.95%) and Protected Forest covering an area of 238,078.23 Ha (34.96%).
The division based on Company Class (KP) in the Regional Division of West Java and Banten consists of 6 KPs. KP Jati (Teak), covering an area of 192,723.58 Ha (28.30%), KP Pinus (Pine), covering an area of334,920,26 Ha (49.18%), KP Mahoni (Mahogany), covering an area of 63,835.59 Ha (9.37%), KP Kayu Putih (Eucalyptus), covering an area of 6,533.23 Ha (0.96%), KP Karet (Rubber), covering an area of 33,729.97 Ha (4.95%), KP Acacia Mangium, covering an area of 49,277.22 Ha (7.24%).
The work area of the West Java and Banten Regional Divisions is divided into 14 (Fourteen) Forest Management Units (KPH) with 93 Forest Management Unit Sections (BKPH) and 310 Forest Management Resorts (RPH), 4 Regional Forest Planning (PHW), 2 Independent Business Units (KBM), 1 Gondorukem and Turpentine Factory (PGT) and 3 Eucalyptus Oil Factory (PMKP).
Management of forest product production from the West Java and Banten Regional Divisions includes timber forest products (Teak, Pine, Damar (resin), Mahogany, Sonokeling, Sengon, Rasamala, et cetera), non-timber (pine sap, eucalyptus leaves, resin/copal, bamboo), and agroforestry (Napier grass, rice, coffee, rubber, coconut, et cetera) as well as ecotourism development.
In carrying out forest management, Perum Perhutani adheres to the principles of Sustainable Forest Management (PHL). Forest Management ensures the sustainability of the functions and benefits of forest resources by considering the sustainability of economic, social and environmental functions in a balanced way.
The West Java and Banten Regional Division has obtained the SNI ISO 9001:2015 certificate valid from February 17, 2023 to March 3, 2026; the mandatory Sustainable Production Forest Management (PHPL) certificate valid from May 11, 2021 to May 10, 2027; and the voluntary FM-FSC® certificate for all Forest Management Units (14 FMUs), effective May 18, 2026..
In managing the forest, Perhutani involves the participation of the community and other stakeholders; the West Java Regional Division collaborates with 1,350 Forest Village Community Institutions (LMDH) and contributes in the form of the Partnership and Community Development Program, sharing forest product production, as well as employment of forest village communities.
