Perum Perhutani Forest Management Unit (KPH) Balapulang is one of the management units under Perum Perhutani, Central Java Regional Division.

The working area of KPH Balapulang, as stipulated in Government Regulation No. 72 of 2010, covers 29.727,29 ha, located within the administrative regions of Brebes Regency (22.833,31 hectares) and Tegal Regency (6.893,98 hectares). Geographically, KPH Balapulang lies between 6°48’ to 7°12’ South Latitude and 108°13’ to 109°8’ East Longitude. The forest area of KPH Balapulang serves as a catchment area within the watersheds (DAS) of Cisanggarung, Tanjung, Kabuyutan, Babakan, and Pemali.

The boundaries of the working area of KPH Balapulang are as follows :

• North      : Java Sea
• East         : KPH Pemalang
• South      : KPH Pekalongan Barat
• West       : KPH Kuningan (Region Divison Janten)

Based on land suitability within the forest area, when classified according to its functions, it is divided into 3 zones.

Forest Functions :

• Protected Forest covering on  area  2.371,98 Ha (7,97 %)
• Production Forest covering on area  24.252,17 Ha (81,59 %)
• Limited Production Forest covering on area  3.103,14 Ha (10,44%)

In accordance with Government Regulation No. 72 of 2010, KPH Balapulang is divided into several Forest Sections (BH):

1. BH Banjarharjo covering on area  9.901,67 Ha
2. BH Larangan covering on area  10.215,41 Ha
3. BH Linggapada covering on area  5.145,95 Ha
4. BH Margasari covering on area  4.464,26 Ha

Based on its management area, KPH Balapulang consists of 6 (six) Forest Management Unit Sections (BKPH) and 25 (twenty-five) Forest Management Unit Resorts (RPH), with the following details:

• BKPH Banjarharjo Barat = 4.935,07 Ha

1. RPH Banjarharjo = 848,85 ha
2. RPH Cibendung = 584,85 ha
3. RPH Cigadung = 901,65 ha
4. RPH Malahayu = 2084,71 ha
5. RPH Randegan = 515,01 ha

• BKPH Banjarharjo Timur = 5.966,60 Ha

1. RPH Cisadap = 445,05 ha
2. RPH Ciseureuh = 1575,44 ha
3. RPH Kertasari = 869,68 ha
4. RPH Pamedaran = 2076,43 ha

• BKPH Larangan = 6.254,62 Ha
